Trauma Wounds
This body of work was born out of an assignment to create a series of distorted self-portraits while I was in art school. The unprocessed trauma I was carrying in body had reached a boiling point and something about observing my reflection on distorted surfaces and recording these impressions felt closer to the truth than other more “accurate” self-portraits I had made in the past. It was only years later, after becoming a psychotherapist- that I would come to find other great Psychotherapists of the past like Carl Jung, had spoken about the inner fragmentation that takes place in psychological conflict and experiences of trauma.
